UK Tour Day 8-9. From London To Our Beds or Christmas Is Canceled.

The London gig was easily one of the best we played on the whole tour and since it was our first time in that historic city, probably one of the coolest gigs we’ve ever done.  The O2 Academy in Islington was big and the crowd that showed up to catch our set impressed us with their bobbing heads and pumping fists.  We also played through our set and introduced “Leaves” to UK audiences for the first time.

Jesse Malin invited Andrew V and myself to join him and The St. Marks Social on stage for a rendition of the Pogues “Fairytale of New York” for the last few nights of the tour so we did one last time in London.  You know the one:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IenGF-hBC4.  nasty, nasty christmas story.  an awesome friend and fan of both bands documented the moment in Leicester so that’s the only video I have of it at the moment.     

This show was also special because it ended up becoming a reunion of sorts for us and our friends that are currently living in London.  We won’t be forgetting that a couple of friends from Manchester made it out to the gig, either  It was great to meet all the new people we met that night but especially nice to see old faces.  We’ll be back and we’ll all hang again.

So after a late night of chasing down drinks and kebabs in Islington we all slept, woke and then hopped on our plane home.  In true A Million Years fashion we nearly missed our flight by a few minutes despite making it to the airport on time - the gate had already been closed.  Nothing was going to stop us from returning to NYC though, so they let us on and dealt with our constant requests for airline snacks.

Now we’re back, collecting our thoughts, contacts and memories from the trip.  We’ll be posting more photos and video soon.  And if we don’t then Christmas is canceled for us.  

In the meantime we’ll have some interesting new things to share with you over the next couple of weeks.  So stay tuned.
